Borrowing items
Order from the Reserve
200,000 documents are stored in our reserve. You can order and borrow a book from there, by filling a form available from the library. The library staff will bring it back and leave it at the reception desk for you under 30 minutes.
Renewing and returning items
Depending on the document type and its status, you can extend your loan. Keep in mind, you can only do so, one week before the return date.
You can renew your item from your library account remotely or come to the library to do it with one of our self-service machines or fellow librarians.
To return an item, you can either :
- drop it off in the return box outside, in front of the library
- go to the reception desk and proceed with a librarian
- at a self-service machine
Inter-library loans
If you are looking for an item and it cannot be found in our collections or in another library in Paris. The Inter-Library loan service allows you to order the document to be delivered to Paris 8 under certain conditions.
To identify the institutions owning the documents you are looking for, you can, for instance, use the SUDOC.
